I had a good laugh !!!

Eleven people were hanging on a rope Under a helicopter 10 men and 1 woman.

The rope was not strong enough to carry them all

So they decided that one had to leave, Because otherwise they were all going to fall.

They weren't able to choose that person,

Until the woman gave a very touching speech.

She said that she would voluntarily let go of the rope,

Because, as a woman, She was used to giving up everything

For her husband and kids or for men in general,

And was used to always making sacrifices With little in return.

As soon as she finished her speech,

All the men started clapping .

And the rest is HISTORY!

Elton John Concert In Morocco Outrages Islamists

HASSAN ALAOUI and ALFRED de MONTESQUIOU | 05/26/10 09:19 PM | AP

RABAT, Morocco — A concert by Elton John has tested the limits of Morocco's drive for modernity, probing this Muslim nation's complex and ambiguous attitudes toward homosexuality like rarely before.

Islamists in the North African kingdom were outraged by the gay pop star's visit, while the royal palace, government and his many fans backed his appearance Wednesday night.

No riots or violence was reported, said Rabat's governor, Hassan Amrani. Authorities had beefed up security with thousands of police and plainclothes officers .

In a sign of John's popularity, several thousand of his fans appeared to know his lyrics by heart even though most people in this French and Arabic speaking country know little or no English.

"He is a very big name in the music world, he's a great artist. And his private life is nobody's business," said Leila Hassan, a 43-year-old housewife.

The tension over the concert is part of a tussle between conservatives and modernizers in a nation that criminalizes homosexuality but has long been famous for a swinging party scene. Morocco has attracted gay celebrities such as designer Yves Saint Laurent and writer Paul Bowles, and recently saw the launch of its first gay magazine.

Across the Islamic world, strictly hidden but sometimes tacitly tolerated traditions of homosexuality are surfacing fitfully – and John's concert is the latest litmus test.

The public dispute between organizers for the Mawazine Festival that invited John and the Justice and Development Party, or PJD, Morocco's largest authorized Islamist group, illustrates the growing rift between Western-leaning Moroccan authorities and the more conservative Muslim movements that are on the rise in the kingdom.

"This singer is famous for his homosexual behavior and for advocating it," said Mustapha Ramid, a leader and spokesman for the PJD, the biggest opposition party with 40 lawmakers in parliament.

"We're a rather open party, but promoting homosexuality is completely unacceptable," Ramid told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

Ramid said homosexuality is against Muslim values, and he feared the British singer would "encourage the phenomenon" and be a bad influence for Moroccan youth.

Like nearly all Arab and Muslim countries, Morocco is officially hostile

Son role politique de l’opposition, celui de la critique; ce qui lui revient de droit;
Ce parti definit les libertes individuelles conformement a ses aspirations culturelles et ses convictions religieuses; c’est sa conception des libertes individuelles dans la societe qu'il promout;
REMEMBER THE SHABBATH ??

SHABBATH SHALOM

Remember the Sabbath?

By Judith Shulevitz
literary critic, author

Ask Americans of a certain age about the Sabbath--Sunday if they're Christian, Saturday if they're Jewish--and the answers come in two flavors: nostalgic or appalled. The nostalgic grow wistful about quiet mornings and leisurely afternoons; they remember streets free of cars, sandlots full of kids, and dinners made special by family and slow-cooked foods (Sunday dinner, of course, was lunch).

The appalled conjure up memories of long, dull days in which everything fun and interesting was either forbidden or not for sale, and time at church or synagogue passed about as quickly as it does at the dentist's.

As a scholar I know puts it, there's a light Sabbath and a dark Sabbath.

The light Sabbath features community and festivity and what a famous professor of psychology once called "freedom from all slavery to the clock." The dark Sabbath bristles with rules and regulations, and at the extreme, fanaticism.

Think of Puritans putting people in stocks for Sabbath-breaking or ultra-ultra-Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem flinging dirty diapers at Sabbath violators, and you get the day of rest at its darkest. Americans may recall the light Sabbath with a certain fondness, at least if they hanker after a calmer way of life. But they are mostly thrilled that over the past 50 years we've done away with the dark, coercive one.

But what if I told you that we could have some of the light Sabbath back, if we'd accept just a little bit of the dark one? We could have something to which we'd probably say yes--namely, more time for self and family and neighborhood--and all we'd have to do is let ourselves be governed by a few nos, a few rules about not working at a pre-arranged time.

Conversely, if we don't accept a no or two, then the kind of time that used to be protected by the Sabbath--time during which everyone leaves the office or factory and turns to one another for entertainment and sustenance--is in danger of disappearing.

Am I calling for a return to blue laws? Not exactly, if by that you mean the laws that forbid us to buy liquor on Sunday, as well as (depending on the state) to wrestle, box, race cars, play bingo, or go oyster-fishing.

What I am saying is that we could learn from the Sabbath how to protect our time against the two grand addictions of the age--work and the Internet. What we'd learn is the immense usefulness, to society, of a structured period of non-productivity, as well as the need to enforce that pause. Putting teeth into a neo-Sabbath might involve legislation--tougher laws restricting off-hours and weekend work, or compensating it at a higher rate. Or it might involve the voluntary revival of old customs, such as the list of non-activities recommended by the just-launched Sabbath Manifesto Project: "Avoid technology." "Get outside." "Drink wine."

The problem many Americans have with the Sabbath is that it smacks of religiosity. If the Sabbath is a strictly clerical institution, then any laws that help us to keep it breach the wall between church and state, right? Wrong.

A mere half-century ago, in 1961, the Supreme Court upheld Sunday-closing laws on the grounds that they did not violate the constitutional rule against state sponsorship of religion. Justice Felix Frankfurter argued that though the Sabbath was first taught in the Bible, the American Sunday had evolved into a secular institution, a civic good, "a cultural asset of importance: a release from the daily grind, a preserve of mental peace, an opportunity for self-disposition."

Let's update Frankfurter for the iPhone generation. Let's say that, like him, we stripped the Sabbath of its religious trappings. We'd probably call what was left a social technology. We'd see this 21st-century Sabbath as a sort of giant software program, a way of coordinating a large group of people so that they could spend their non-work time together if they wanted to, or by themselves if they didn't.

What happens when we do that? Conversations, friendships, hobbies, affinity groups, neighborhood associations, charities--in a word, civil society. What happens when we don't? The question is what doesn't happen. The answer is, at least some of the good things listed above, because people are too busy working--and have too many different days off--to get together to make those things happen.

Nonsense! I hear the iPhone generation replying. You've forgotten about the miracle of real technology! Social networks have made it possible to be together even if we don't share the same space and time. We no longer need a Sabbath, or any other religious anachronisms, to synchronize us. We can create our affinity groups without Sunday-closing laws or labor legislation, thank you very much.

To them, I say two things. The first is that whatever our technological selves may have become, we remain creatures of flesh embedded in space and time, and we need each other in the world, not just online. In fact, I'd go even further and say that the online networks we love so much make it all the more essential that we study the Sabbath closely. It is because the Internet is spaceless and timeless, because its networks make no concession to exhaustion or edginess or the craving for solitude, that we have to develop a counter-machinery that helps us turn it off.

And the second thing I'd say is that we shouldn't run scared from the ecclesiastical associations that cling to the Sabbath like earth to roots. Religion is the source of most forms of transcendence in our mostly very mundane lives, whether or not we now pray or believe.

Religion has given us storytelling, poetry, music, art, and theater; it has occasioned the founding of universities; it has been responsible for great advances in architecture. There's no reason not to let religion lend us one of its most powerful social ideas--the Sabbath--as well.

Judith Shulevitz, a literary critic and a former columnist for the New York Times and Slate, is author of the new book "The Sabbath World: Glimpses of a Different Order of Time" (Random House). Her work has also appeared in the New Republic and the New Yorker.

This is not a regular bulletin but rather a cry for sanity.

Please spread this email to your friends all over the world before the flotilla of blind leftists who erroneously

believe the media hype that Gaza has no food because of Israel grabs the limelight.

They know not what they do, they see not what they ought and they speak of what they do not see or know.

Gaza flotilla raid: Joe Biden asks 'So what's the big deal here?'

Joe Biden publicly defends Israel's actions over Gaza flotilla raid, says Israel 'has a right to know' if arms were smuggled

US Vice President Joe Biden has offered the Obama administration's strongest defence of Israel's Gaza flotilla raid to date, in a interview on US television this evening, saying: "Israel has an absolute right to deal with its security interest."

Appearing on PBS's Charlie Rose Show, Biden defended Israel's action in boarding the Gaza flotilla as "legitimate". After suggesting the flotilla's cargo of aid could have been unloaded elsewhere, Biden appears to brush off the international criticism, asking: "So what's the big deal here? What's the big deal of insisting it go straight to Gaza?"

He then makes it clear that Washington is happy for Israel to conduct its own investigation of the incident that led to nine deaths and dozens of injuries, although Biden added: "but we're open to international participation".

Here's a section of the transcript, courtesy of Politico:

Joe Biden: Look, you can argue whether Israel should have dropped people onto that ship or not and the – but the truth of the matter is, Israel has a right to know – they're at war with Hamas – has a right to know whether or not arms are being smuggled in. And up to now, Charlie, what's happened? They've said, "Here you go. You're in the Mediterranean. This ship – if you divert slightly north you can unload it and we'll get the stuff into Gaza." So what's the big deal here? What's the big deal of insisting it go straight to Gaza? Well, it's legitimate for Israel to say, "I don't know what's on that ship. These guys are dropping eight – 3,000 rockets on my people." Now, the one thing we have to do is not forget the plight of these Palestinians there, not Hamas – they're in bad shape. So we have put as much pressure and as much cajoling on Israel as we can to allow them to get building materials in, glass...

Charlie Rose: That's what they're trying to bring in, building materials.

Biden: Yes, we know that, but they could have easily brought it in here and we'd get it through. And so now the question is what do we do? Well, we had made it clear, the President of the United States has spoken three times, yesterday with Bibi, or the day before yesterday, he's spoken once yesterday with a guy that I have spent a fair amount of time with, with Prime Minister Erdogan in Turkey; the Turks, we passed a resolution in the UN saying we need a transparent and open investigation of what happened. It looks like things are...

Rose: International investigation?

Biden: Well, an investigation run by the Israelis, but we're open to international participation, just like the investigation run on the sunken sub in – off the coast of Korea. That was run by South Korea, but the international community joined in that investigation. And so that is very possible here as well. I might add by the way for all those who say the Israelis, you know, you know, you can't trust them, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled today that every one of the people on those ships had to be released immediately.

>>people magazine<<

Helen Thomas Saying Jews Should 'Get the Hell Out of Palestine'

Published June 04, 2010

| FOXNews.com

Veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas has issued an apology after saying in an interview that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine.”
Thomas, a longtime White House correspondent who now writes a column for Hearst newspapers, made the comments May 27 after a White House Jewish heritage event.
Asked by Rabbi David Nesenoff of RabbiLive.com if she had “any comments on Israel,” Thomas replied, “Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”
Thomas went on to say that the Palestinian people “are occupied and it’s their land” and that Israelis should “go home” -- to Poland, Germany, America “and everywhere else.”

By:

Howard Galganov

I had already written an Editorial about how I imagined Obama would be greeting Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu like Royalty, in order to win back the American Jewish vote he squandered by treating Netanyahu like garbage the last time Netanyahu came calling.

But, a funny thing happened on the road to yet another sickening photo-op for Obama. Israel had to do what a REAL country has to do in terms of defending its national security and integrity.

Not that Obama would have a clue about what that is, evidence being how he is MISHANDLING the Mexican/US border travesty.

GOODBYE NETANYAHU VISIT:

Prime Minister Netanyahu cancelled his visit with Obama because of the clash on the High Seas. In truth though, there was no reason why Prime Minister Netanyahu had to cancel his Obama meeting.

Actually, being in the USA with the President no less, would be under “normal” circumstances the BEST place to be in a situation such as this. That is, if the President wasn’t an Israel-Hater.

But, it was a GREAT excuse for Netanyahu NOT to be bothered to share any PR time with the Israel-Hater-In-Chief. And who can blame him?

1 - WHY DID THIS VIOLENT HIGH-SEAS GAZA EXCHANGE HAPPEN?

2 - WHO’S RESPONSIBLE FOR IT?

On the surface, it is being portrayed as yet another example of how the big bad Israelis are subjugating “POOR” Palestinians and the “KIND” humanitarian folk who only want to help out of compassion.

What is NOT being discussed at all, is Israel’s LEGITIMATE RIGHT as is recognized by the World Community to operate a Naval Blockade against a declared enemy, which in essence means using all measured force necessary to keep out unwarranted shipping.

But, the facts which most of the media are wrestling with, go far beyond the reason and cause for this incident, since they focus just about ONLY on ISRAELI VIOLENCE.

Before I write another word, I state with 100% conviction that what happened off the coast of Israel heading for Gaza was indeed a TRAGEDY. But not in the sense the World Body and media speak of.

One of the tragedies is that Israel was FORCED to react at all. That Israelis were beaten, stabbed, clubbed and shot at while trying to peacefully board the ships for the express purpose of turning the flotilla to an Israeli port, where the ships would be unloaded, allowing non military cargo to be transported to Gaza.

The other TRAGEDY is that the world has another EXCUSE to demonize and punish Israel.

Back to WHY it happened and WHO is responsible? It happened specifically because of BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA who is singularly and totally responsible for everything.

If Obama wasn’t so busy EMPOWERING the Arab/Moslem World with lies and deceit, while diminishing Israel and his own country, the SO-CALLED Peace Activists aboard those cursed ships would have NEVER tried to do what they did.

Obama has drawn an entirely new ROAD MAP for the Middle East by giving victim status and unwarranted legitimacy to the Palestinians, while playing Joseph Goebbels AGAINST the Jews of Israel.

1 – The people onboard these ships, especially the ship that led the attack against the Israelis were NOT Peace Activists. Peace Activists don’t smash the heads of other people with steel bars, stab other people, and shoot other people.

2 – That the Israelis killed ONLY 9 of these Peace Activists is in my opinion a tremendous display of restraint.

If it were up to me, I would have sunk the ship.

These were NOT mercy ships bringing humanitarian aid to starving impoverished people. These ships were nothing more and nothing LESS than an open PROVOCATION and challenge to Israel’s security and sovereignty.

It’s fascinating how the WHOLE WORLD rushes to the support of Palestine, this FICTIONAL political creature, and PRETEND people that NEVER existed before the UN LEFTISTS created it, while creating for themselves a never-ending INDUSTRY, at the same time ignoring the REAL suffering of people living under the thumb of totalitarianism in the name of Islam and others.

No region and people on the planet command as much attention, resources, and global wealth than do the Palestinians. It is a TRILLION dollar perpetual industry that keeps UN LEFTISTS, mostly Euro-Trash in Fat City, just about all of which is financed at the expense of the Western Democracies they actually disdain.

There are no starving Palestinians. There is no health crisis in Gaza. There is nothing these ships could have been bringing to Gaza that isn’t already available through the Gaza/Egypt/Israel Border Crossings courtesy of the UN.

Nothing that is; that aren’t rockets, explosives, guns, bullets and who knows what else the Palestinians could and would use to kill Jews in Israel.

IGNORING AN ACT OF WAR:

Isn’t it curious that the North Koreans SANK a South Korean Battle Ship causing the death of more than 40 South Korean sailors, and hardly a peep was made of it?

But, in an act of self-defense, Israeli commandos kill 9 people amongst a viscous mob, and the UN Security Council is CONVENED at the speed of LIGHT to CONDEMN Israel, with NO ONE coming to Israel's defense, INCLUDING Obama’s White House.

But it doesn’t really matter.

As I wrote on May 22, 2010 (I Am Israel – See Archives), in the end, Israel will ultimately stand alone facing the specter of modern-day evil incarnated in Islam.

It will be up to Israel, and to Israel alone to be a light upon the path which GOOD Men and Women of conscience and courage will follow, in what I believe is to be an inevitable war between Islam and MODERNITY, that will NOT end all wars, but will give the world peace for a time to come.

Less than two weeks ago, I wrote – I AM ISRAEL. Today, I state it once again:

I AM ISRAEL.

AND I WILL STAND WITH ISRAEL REGARDLESS THE CONSEQUENCES.
