Je sais, nous vivons une période ubuesque. On pourrait en rire s’il n’y avait tant de raisons d’en pleurer. Lorsque je regardais les foules extatiques se pâmer devant Barack Obama, le soir de l’élection de celui-ci, je ne pouvais m’empêcher de penser au désenchantement qui remplacerait bien vite leur joie.

Les inepties qui jonchent la politique étrangère de la nouvelle administration américaine commencent à susciter, outre-Atlantique, les inquiétudes de plusieurs commentateurs.

Demander à la Russie poutinienne, qui fournit l’Iran en matériel et installations nucléaires, d’aider les Etats-Unis à engager l’Iran à renoncer à l’atome pourrait conduire à se demander si Obama n’est pas marxiste, en fin de cause. Tendance Groucho, comme on disait dans ma jeunesse.

Ces inepties vont de pair, bien sûr, avec une politique économique, qui, elle, semble plutôt inspirée par un Attila des temps modernes qui aurait lu un autre Marx. Je parle de Karl, cette fois.

Des commentateurs disent désormais qu’Obama a déclaré la guerre au capitalisme et à la liberté d’entreprendre. De dépenses publiques creusant un déficit vertigineux, en taxes carbones, de nationalisation rampante des banques en augmentations massive des impôts, promises aux investisseurs, ceux-ci, du coup, cessent d’investir et font plonger l’indice Dow Jones ; on voit qu’effectivement la guerre est bien engagée. En Europe, bien sûr, en France, en particulier, aucun analyste ne semble rien percevoir de tout cela.

Nous vivons une période ubuesque, disais-je. Et au moment où je pensais ne rien voir ou entendre de plus grotesque qu’un discours emphatique et cuistre du nouvel occupant de la Maison Blanche, j’ai pu apercevoir des images du récent sommet pour la reconstruction de Gaza, tenu le 2 mars dernier à Sharm El-Sheikh.

Reconstruire Gaza ! Tout un programme ! Parler clairement aurait impliqué pour les participants de trouver un intitulé plus imaginatif et plus explicite : « Séance de prosternement collective devant le Hamas et l’islam radical » m’aurait semblé seyant et aurait eu, de surcroît, le mérite de la franchise.

Les pays réunis, au premier rang desquels les principales puissances européennes et les Etats-Unis d’Obama, ont promis des milliards : les sommes ont même été supérieures aux objectifs initiaux. En temps de crise, c’est normal, non ?

Et ce sont les contribuables occidentaux qui vont être contents. Le seul à avoir émis quelques réserves a été le représentant saoudien, c’est dire !

Parvenant à garder leur sérieux, ce qui montre leur talent de comédiens, présidents et ministres se sont succédés à la tribune pour clamer que l’argent n’irait pas au Hamas, un mouvement terroriste que personne ne reconnaît, mais serait distribué par les Nations Unies, par l’intermédiaire de l’UNRWA, que les présidents et ministres susdits ne connaissent absolument pas. Car c’est désormais relater une évidence, que d’affirmer que les employés arabes [presque tous les employés de l’UNWRA sont arabes. Ndlr.] de cette organisation onusienne sont membres du mouvement terroriste en question.

Il a été, bien sûr, beaucoup évoqué le célèbre « processus de paix », qui consiste à demander toujours davantage à Israël, mais strictement rien à ses agresseurs, puisqu’on les subventionne, au contraire, et qu’on ferme volontairement les yeux sur leurs crimes.

Il a été question des souffrances du peuple palestinien, mais pas du tout de la situation des habitants du sud d’Israël, qui, eux, doivent se contenter de recevoir chaque jour leur lot de roquettes.

Pourquoi ne recevraient-ils pas de roquettes ? Ce sont eux les vrais, les "authentiques bellicistes". Et ce sont les lanceurs de roquettes les vraies, les "authentiques victimes".
Pour être bien certain que les lanceurs de roquettes pourront continuer leurs activités "pacifiques" de "vraies victimes", il a été, bien entendu, demandé à Israël d’ouvrir les points de passage vers Gaza, et d’autoriser les livraisons de marchandises sans restrictions.

Des livraisons qui permettront de faire de jolis tunnels en béton armé, depuis lesquels les islamistes pourront acheminer des projectiles toujours plus perfectionnés et les envoyer vers les écoles et les jardins d’enfants des "authentiques bellicistes israéliens".

Les dirigeants du monde au chevet de la réalité en verlan… Les dirigeants du monde qui promettent cinq milliards de dollars à d’inhumains terroristes, Alfred Jarry est dépassé sur le territoire de l’Absurdie.

Pénurie de personnel médical à Gaza ? Des médecins et des personnels soignants de la Bande de Gaza sont soumis à une séance de rééducation islamique par des miliciens du Hamas.

Les médecins sont obligés, sous la menace des armes des miliciens, de scander des incantations et de frapper la mesure dans leurs mains. Un commissaire religieux s’approche des prisonniers aux yeux bandés afin de s’assurer qu’ils prononcent effectivement les prières.

Au moment de cette séance, les médecins ne savent pas s’ils ne vont pas être exécutés. Des centaines de civils à Gaza ont été massacrés par les miliciens fondamentalistes à l’issue de séances de ce genre.

Après quelques "entretiens" de ce type, quel médecin, quel être humain normalement constitué, refuserait de répéter docilement, devant les caméras d’Al-Jazeera, les mensonges commandités par les miliciens ?

Si j’étais un personnage politique américain de l’administration Obama, je ne serais pas fier de moi. Je me trouverais même lamentable. Si j’étais un politicien européen, j’aurais du mal à me regarder dans un miroir. Mais je ne suis ni l’un ni l’autre, et je me dis que chez ces gens là, on ment sans vergogne, on fait du théâtre et de la pantomime comme s’il s’agissait d’une seconde nature. On finit par dire tant de choses ignobles ou grotesques qu’on s’auto-intoxique et qu’on finit par croire ce qu’on dit.

Si j’étais un responsable politique israélien, je redoublerais de méfiance et de détermination, en me disant que, décidément, le ciel se couvre et le temps est à l’orage. Je ne suis pas non plus un responsable politique israélien, mais, aimant Israël, je dois dire que j’ai hâte qu’Israël soit gouverné par un homme d’Etat. Cela devient urgent.

Benyamin Netanyahu a déclaré récemment qu’il n’était pas prêt à sacrifier la sécurité de son pays en échange d’un sourire. Il a d’autant plus raison que le sourire en question serait frelaté, surtout si c’est celui de Barack Obama ou d’Hillary Clinton, qui ne cessent de montrer, par leurs actes, qu’ils sont des adversaires d’Israël.
Avez-vous entendu Hillary parler de la vie des habitants de Sdérot ou de la gravité de la menace iranienne pendant son passage dans la région ? Pas moi.

My Fellow Arabs

Arab regime leaders and their affiliates swim in wealth (luxury private palaces with the finest and mot expensive man has ever produced, private jets, i.e. flying palaces), ignore the poor, repress the population, blame local backwardness on the West, and support fundamentalist Muslims.
Arab regimes have always been despotic and totalitarian. They have never believed in egalitarianism, economic opportunity, religious tolerance, and self-criticism. They have used medieval forces of governance: tribalism, especially in the Arabian Peninsula, authoritarian traditionalism, and most recently Islamic fundamentalism. Arab schools and universities turn out more graduates in Islamic studies, falsified history, and void nationalism than in science, engineering, and medicine. Critical studies and scientific research have screeched to a halt. The majority of Arab professors translate works and research done in the West and claim they are their own. Empirical work is almost non-existent. Students graduate without having the slightest clue about what is really going on in the Western world. The only things the majority of them know about the West is that it produces good car, but it is decadent; people drink much alcohol and women sleep with everybody.
Billions of barrels of oil, fertile land along the Nile, Tigris, and Euphrates valleys, which in the past helped creating great civilizations, yield an excess of misery rather than riches like in North Korea or Hong Kong, for instance. Billions of dollars are squandered on armament and a lavish life-style enjoyed by corrupt despotic rulers of the Arab world and their affiliates. Totalitarian oil rich Arab grandees from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Emirates, and Qatar, who plunder their countries' resources, invest their billions of dollars in the West. Countries like Egypt and Jordan, which receive billions of dollars as aid from the America and Europe, spend the money on strengthening their regimes.
Tragically, prospects of improvement are dismal. Arab government spokesmen and the predominantly state-owned media entertain the illiterate and semi-literate population with anti-Western and anti-Israel propaganda.
The Arab media are a great charade and a simulacrum of the West. They lack life-giving spirit and self-criticism. The state-controlled media and the private ones, owned by rich Arabs affiliated to Arab regimes, like the Saudi tycoon Al Waleed Bin Talal, give the appearance of being modern and Western. But their reporters and anchormen and women are by no means journalists by Western standards of free and truthful inquiry.
For example, while BBC makes a point of talking to the victims of a suicide bomber in Baghdad and Kabul, al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, and the other Arab TV stations would never interview the mother of an Israeli blown apart by a Palestinian terrorist. To add insult to injury, Arab journalists call Palestinians who clash with Israeli forces and die: Martyrs.
Most Arab television stations would never broadcast freewheeling debates, like Meet the Press style talk show permitting criticism of the government, or critical, liberal interpretation of Islam. Commercial TV stations quibble over a high degree of anti-Americanism and anti-Israelism and obfuscate criticism of official Islam.
Creative novelists, cartoonists, and bloggers like Najeeb Mahfouz, Salman Rushdie, Flemming Rose, and Alaa Fattah received death Fatwas (ruling) for blasphemy. Four Egyptian editors of four Egyptian newspapers, Ibrahim Issa, Adel Hammouda, Wael el-Ebrashi and Abdel-Halim Qandil were sentenced to a year's hard labour for offending the president, Hosni Mubarak. Instead of getting a prize for literary creativity and civic courage, critics receive a prison or death fatwa and a mob at their courtyard.
No wonder that a culture of zero-creativity and silence is pervading the Arab world. On the other hand, a culture of demagogy is spreading across the Arab world. Prime examples are the Islamist preacher Amr Khaled and the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darweesh. The Arab current furor is scripted, whipped up, and mercurial.
The Arab regimes and their media focus on and exaggerate the number of Arabs killed in clashes with the Israeli army and the coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the same time, they deliberately ignore the thousands of Shiites, and Kurds butchered by Saddam Hussein and Hafez Asad of Syria.
The murder of some100.000 Muslims in Algeria by fellow Muslims, not by infidels, did not provoke so much indignation and violent demonstrations among Muslims as the so-called "Mohammed cartoons" did, although according to the holy Koran, "If someone kills a human being, it is as if he had killed the whole mankind."
All the conferences held in the Arab world about alleged Western bias and media distortion, and all those open-letters signed by Muslim leaders to Christians for dialogue cannot hide the self-inflicted catastrophe – and the growing ostracism and suspicion towards Arab regimes and evil forces in the Middle East. The Arab-Muslim message: "You accept our Shari'a or die" will never be accepted by the world community. The gloat over that Islam is engulfing the world is mere self-deception, vulgar and hallucination, at best. What is engulfing the world is extremism and terrorism. And the world will never accept a religion that approves of bloodshed and carnage.
Yet, in sum, Arab regimes remain objectively powerful, at least in one respect, not because of greater courage, higher IQs, or stronger economy, but because of their unique skills in cultivating fanatics and breeding terrorists. The cultivated West has not yet been able to find an antidote to the culture of terrorism. That is an area where Arabs and Muslims have proved to be superior.

The truth is honour killing is widespread in many muslim countries, the case mentionned above came to light only because the deed was done in Texas.

The incident sent a shockwave throughout the conservative kingdom, with local papers dubbing Omaima "the rubbish bin girl". Sari Nasir, a sociologist at the University of Jordan, showed no surprise at the chain of events that led to this travesty. "Values are stronger than life in Jordan," he said.

According to police records, every year 20-25 women are killed "in the name of honour", that is, for having an illicit affair. The killers, and conspirators, get away with murder, after spending a few months in prison.

At least nine women have been killed since the beginning of this year for "honour" reasons, usually resulting from an illicit relationship or adultery or even a suspicion of both, police records show.

In Jordan, any "honour" related incident, is veiled in secrecy and is usually brushed under the carpet before it grabs public attention. The victims are usually women involved, or suspected to be involved, in an affair. "Honour" killings are technically illegal, but tradition and social pressure pose a serious challenge to the rule of law.

you are a constant paradoxe here on this forum, what you say anymore has lost lots of credibility to my eyes. How anyone can think the way you do ? Defending the indefendable........ I care for 1) my family and my friends, then the others, whomever they are, those WHO act with decency.

I have travelled, I have many friends all types and creed, in four continents, good memories of all places, friends everywhere, never had a driving ticket nor a problem with the law of any country I lived in.
