this is absolutely hilarious, how some people interpret the stories of the bible - and what they think they understand.

The 12 Opossums

The more you know, the funnier it is. I laughed until I had tears running
down my face! You simply must read these observations on the bible! If
the story of Joshua does not make you howl, then you are not alive!
The following is from a lady in Oregon. It is priceless! The Bible
explained by kids - truth has been redefined!

One of our favorite jobs has been leading junior church. We try to do more than Baby-sit our church's beloved little ankle-biters during their time in our special junior church facility. We aim to give them a solid background in biblical history. At the end of each year, we give them pencils and paper and ask them to chronicle what they have learned. This assignment never fails to elicit some intriguing responses. In case you're a little foggy on your biblical history, let our junior church students help you with his complete overview of the Bible, compiled from their essays:

___________________________________________________________
In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, 'The Lord thy God is one,' but I think He must be a lot older than that. Anyway, God said, 'Give me a light!' and someone did. Then God made the world. He split the Adam and made Eve.

Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel.
Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something. One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.
; ; ;

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston.

Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and aw ay from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable. God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then He gave them His top ten commandments. These include don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's bottom (the Bible uses a bad word for bottom that I'm not supposed to say. But my Dad uses it sometimes when
he talks about the President). Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more:
Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua, who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town. After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore.

There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New Testament. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because my mom is always saying to me, Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisee sand the Republicans. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount. But the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven, but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

There! Now you understand it!

Grant me a sense of humor, Lord,

The saving grace to see a joke,

To win some happiness from life,

and Pass it on to another folk.

Dear Mona,

I hope it is more quiet for you when you read this. War is devastating to all and I have been going through this hellish experience myself this past year. I want to tell you that from my side in Sderot I see the same kind of pain, trauma and death that you described in your email. Hamas's resistance is not "symbolic" for the Israelis living in southern Israel. Take Osher Twito. This eight year-old boy can no longer walk because shrapnel from a rocket explosion severed his left leg, which had to be amputated. Sderot was once a city of 24,000 people. These "homemade rockets" have forced close to 5,000 people to relocate elsewhere in Israel over the past seven years. Although the weaponry of Palestinian terror groups may be crude and inexpensive, it has wreaked devastation for the Israelis in this region, as any advanced military weaponry would. I know this may be difficult to believe based on the way Israel is presented in the Arab world, but the Israeli army does not intend nor want to kill innocent Palestinian women and children. The IDF enters Gaza to eliminate the terrorists who terrorise Israelis. I feel your pain at the innocent lives taken in this warfare. And remember that most of the rockets are launched from civilian areas like schoolyards and hospitals. It is very difficult to target Palestinian terrorists when they use women and children as human shields. Hamas times its rocket fire so that Jewish children will be the most likely targets. It fires Qassam rockets early in the morning when they go to school and in the afternoon when their parents pick them up. This "symbolic" war by Hamas is not being waged solely against our soldiers, but against us - the Jewish people. You say your family originally came from Ashkelon. I am curious, where did your great-great-great grandparents originally come from? How long had they been here?
I too have family who were displaced. My grandmother left Poland because of the growing fear of Nazi control. She managed to escape to Israel but her entire family was killed in the Holocaust before they could join her. She never went back to Poland. Do you believe that the Jewish people have a right to live in this land? Do you recognise Israel as a Jewish state? I know that Ashkelon to you is al-Majdal. If the Hebrew names of these cities are not recognised and the Jewish presence in this land not tolerated among the Arabs - how do you conceive that there will be peace with Israel?
Outside the conflict, I was wondering what English books you like reading? This year, Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte, is one of my favourites. I can't decide if Heathcliff is truly a villain!

Best wishes and keep well,

Anav

Dear Anav,

It is pleasure to write to you again. Yes, it is more quiet now in terms of military attacks. Heathcliff is a victim of his tyrannical society, but when he is in power, he becomes a victimiser himself. Do you notice, the victim always becomes the bully when he has control?
I don't care where my great-great-great grandparents came from, or when. History is full of migration and the movement of peoples, including yours. After three thousand years living around the world, suddenly you remembered your homeland! You said your family came to Palestine because of the spread of Nazism, to escape the Holocaust.
Why should we Palestinians have to pay the price of others' crimes? If the Nazis killed your grandmother's family, why do you kill us in return? I don't mean you personally of course, but the Israeli state.
How can I accept the existence of a state which has occupied our land for 40 years, an occupation which has resulted in so many Palestinians being killed?

On terrorism... why is launching "crude and inexpensive" weaponry on the children of Sderot considered terrorism, when F16s and Mercava tanks killing children inside their homes in Gaza is not? Samar and Samah were two sisters, aged 13 and 23, who were together at home in Gaza when an Israeli shell killed them last month. They weren't resisting anyone. I think the term "terrorism" is connected to a level of sophistication in the weapons used. If we had had advanced weaponry, this whole thing would have been managed differently. It would have become a war between two nations - with no mention of terrorism.
Another point, what do you call the prevention of food and medical supplies entering the Gaza Strip? Is this not a kind of terrorism?
Peace is always possible everywhere if attention is paid to it, and if rights are returned to people who have lost them. I believe in peace, as we are exchanging letters.

I think peace is what makes us human. You, the Jew, and I, the Arab Muslim, are humans, so there is place for peace. But can you tell me why Israel closes the borders and prevents people from travelling?
Don't you think that the international community (the UN) handles the conflict unfairly - and has actually made it worse? Do you see this as a struggle for survival, between me and you?

My favourite English novel is Heart of Darkness for Joseph Conrad. Don't you think, colonialism in all ages has the same ideology?
Do you like Shakespeare? Hamlet is one of my favourites. Every time I read it I discover that he has a new problem.

Best wishes,

Mona

Hamas Cleric Wael Al-Zarad Calls for the Annihilation of Jews and States: If Each Arab Spat on the Jews, They Would Drown in Arab Spit

Following are excerpts from a TV program featuring Palestinian cleric Wael Al-Zarad, which aired on Al-Aqsa TV on February 28, 2008:

Wael Al-Zarad: In short, these are the Jews. As Muslims, our blood vengeance against them will only subside with their annihilation, Allah willing, because they tried to kill our Prophet several times.

[...]

What should we do with these people? What is the best solution for them? Should it be by shamelessly bestowing kisses, regardless of our religion and our morals, on satellite TV and in clear view of the whole world? Should it be through futile meetings, which are usually conducted on carpets red with the blood of martyrs? Or should it be through an exchange of despicable smiles and ugly handshakes?

[...]

What is the best solution for these people, who have perpetrated every possible thing against us? They have destroyed our homes, killed our children, taken our land, and plundered our resources. They have turned our mosques into pubs and bars, where they drink alcohol and get women drunk. From the dome of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, they proclaim that Ezra the Scribe is the son of God.

[...]

By Allah, people, the Jews do not deserve such a fuss. They do not deserve to be feared. The Jews are not a terrorizing bogeyman. The Jews are nothing but human scum, who came as scattered gangs to occupy our land. By Allah, if each and every Arab spat on them, they would drown in Arab spit. By Allah, if each and every Muslim spat on them, they would drown in saliva. By Allah, if the Arabs and Muslims turned into flies, the Jews would die from their buzzing. Therefore, my dear brothers, the Jews do not deserve to be feared so much. Therefore, I ask with pain and sorrow: Isn't there a single reasonable man in any of the Arab air forces? Isn't there a single reasonable man among them, who will break through these aerial borders, and bomb the Jews deep in their own land? Where are all the Arabs and Muslims?

je relève un mot de Mona de sa lettre [ I believe in peace, as we are exchanging letters. ] très amivcale, je la trouve.

Nicht

you find the Mona's letter "friendly" it is a forever "turn around", let's wait and see the response Mona will receive from her "pin pal" Anav.
I personally, cannot solve the problems of the world, I see Israel's side of the coin. It is a democracy like it or Not ! our bad leaders dont stay ! we vote and get them out !! if necessary.
When Mona will write from her own experience, and ask herself Why after so many lost wars and Peace offers, the Leaders are stilling the people blind, they lie to them, their demands are forever changing, and they stage their misery !!!!!
enough !!!
Mona is not a victim of Israel's terror attacks, she is a victim of her own stupid leaders, and the Arab millionnaires are watching !

Elisabeth

I support my own people, because we have to.

et franchement Nicht ! I see where you come from.

Tu comprends ?

Ecoute Nicht,

La paix, and only Peace will put everything into proper perspective, girls are girls, dreams are dreams, i have feelings for Mona, she is educated, covered in black from head to toe, This is what Hanyeh wants from her, to have babies to be shahids, the chance for peace flew away when they voted for Islamisme. What is she going to do with all the books she reads ? she does know our history ? for 3000 years jews have prayed "Next Year in Jerusalem", she needs more education.

she says this :
[i]It is pleasure to write to you again. Yes, it is more quiet now in terms of military attacks. Heathcliff is a victim of his tyrannical society, but when he is in power, he becomes a victimiser himself. Do you notice, the victim always becomes the bully when he has control?

It is very disturbing to me ! the Israeli Army has no choice ... they deal with terror attacks the best they can, the wall IS NECESSARY, the Army filters the 'workers everyday thru the checkpoint, I know this for seeing right here around my kibboutz, arab workers. let alone, the arabs who live in Israel and claim their allegiance to the Hamas and Hesbollah. They are full fledge citizens, with all rights. This is a reality !
It is the only country we have !! and we will keep fighting for it ! there are no deal ! until it is understood.

Shall I switch on English to get you to the heart of this nice story ?

Really, it’s all the more noticeable as you are deeply involved by this topic that these friends are talking about in theirs letters. Maybe you are Israeli citizen too like Anav. At this level, I did hear your reaction to Mona’s arguments. Don’t worry Elisabeth; it’s easy to guess you saw it through your daily life in Sderot (?). Know please, as far as I am concerned, I just watch and listen.

In this forum dafina, we discuss so far about this topic all the time, but after all between Moroccans; and some consider themselves originally from Morocco. And right now, in this case in particular, it’s worth trying to get another point of view out of this peaceful dialogue between an Israeli and a Palestinian. Isn’t it?

Anyway Anav is due to answer Mona. So we will get back on that as soon as their next letters will be issued.

Keep well.

This is why I LOVE being JEWISH
WE HAVE NEVER BEEN BETTER OFF!
It's only TV and the media
That make people think
That the end of our world is
coming.

Only 68+ years ago,
They were leading Jews to their
death
Like sheep to the slaughter!
No Country, No Army. 60 years ago!

Seven Arab countries declared war
On the small Jewish State,
Only a few hours old!
We were then 650,000 Jews!
Against the rest of the Arab
world!
No IDF [Israel Defense Force].
No mighty Air Force,
Just tough people
With nowhere to go.
Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Libya, Saudi
Arabia, attacked all at once.
The country the UN 'gave us'
Was 65% desert.
The country started from scratch!
41 years ago! We fought
The three strongest armies in the
Middle East,
And wiped them out in six days
We fought against
Different coalitions of Arab
countries,
With modern armies,
And masses of Soviet Russian
weapons,
And we still won!
We have today
A country,
An army,
A strong Air Force,
A Hi-Tech Economy, exporting millions.
Intel - Microsoft - IBM develop their
stuff here.

Our doctors win world prizes for medical
developments.
We made the desert flourish,
Selling oranges and vegetables to the world.

Israel has sent its own satellite into Space!
Three satellites all together!
We sit proudly,
With the US, with 250 million people,
With Russia, with 200 million people,
With China, with 1.1 billion people,
With the Europeans -- France,
England, Germany, with
350 million people,

The only countries in the world
To shoot something into space!
Israel is today in the world nuclear
power family
With the US, Russia, China, India, France, and
England.
[We don't admit it, but every one
knows...]
To think that only 68+ years ago,
We were led, Shameful,With no hope,
To our death!
We crawled out of the burning ashes of
Europe,
We won our wars here with less than
nothing
We built an 'empire' out of
nothing.
We celebrate Passover
Let's not forget what the story is
all about.
We overcame Pharaoh,
We overcame the Greeks,
We overcame the Romans,
We overcame the Inquisition in Spain,
We overcame the Pogroms in Russia,
We overcame Hitler,
We overcame the Germans,
We overcame the Holocaust,
We overcame the armies of the seven Arab
countries,
We overcame Saddam.
Take it easy, folks,
We will overcome
The present enemies too.
No matter which part of human history
you try!
Think of it,
For us,
The Jewish people,
Our situation has never been
better!
So,
Let's Lift our Heads High,
Let's Remember:
Any nation or culture
That tried to mess around with us
Was destroyed -- while we kept going!

Egypt?
Anyone know where their empire disappeared
to?
Greeks?
Alexander of Macedonia?
The Romans?
Does anyone today speak Latin?
The Third Reich?
Anyone heard any news about it lately?

And look at us,
The Nation from the Bible,
From Slavery in Egypt,
We are still here,
Speaking the same language!
Right here, right now.
The Arabs don't know it yet,
But, they will learn that there is one
God.
As long as we keep our identity,
We are eternal.
So, sorry for not worrying,
Not bitching,
Not crying,
Not being scared.
Things are O.K. here.
They surely can be better,

But still:
They won't tell you
That there are festivals going on,
That people keep on living,
That people are going out,
That people are seeing friends.
Yes, our morale is low,
So what?
It's only because we weep for our dead
While they enjoy the blood.

This is the same reason why,
We will win, after all.
Forward this e- mail to the whole Jewish
community,
And to people throughout the
world.

8-year-old girl asks for divorce in court

Nojoud Muhammed Nasser arrived at court by herself on Wednesday, April 2, looking for a judge to handle her case against her father, Muhammed Nasser, who forced her two months ago to marry Faez Ali Thamer, a man 22 years her senior. The child also asked for a divorce, accusing her husband of sexual and domestic abuse.

According to Yemeni law, Nojoud cannot prosecute, as she is underage. However, court judge Muhammed Al-Qathi heard her complaint and subsequently ordered the arrests of both her father and husband.

“My father beat me and told me that I must marry this man, and if I did not, I would be raped and no law and no sheikh in this country would help me. I refused but I couldn’t stop the marriage,” Nojoud Nasser told the Yemen Times. “I asked and begged my mother, father, and aunt to help me to get divorced. They answered, ‘We can do nothing. If you want you can go to court by yourself.’ So this is what I have done,” she said.

Nasser said that she was exposed to sexual abuse and domestic violence by her husband. “He used to do bad things to me, and I had no idea as to what a marriage is. I would run from one room to another in order to escape, but in the end he would catch me and beat me and then continued to do what he wanted. I cried so much but no one listened to me. One day I ran away from him and came to the court and talked to them.”

“Whenever I wanted to play in the yard he beat me and asked me to go to the bedroom with him. This lasted for two months," added Nasser. "He was too tough with me, and whenever I asked him for mercy, he beat me and slapped me and then used me. I just want to have a respectful life and divorce him.”

Nasser’s uncle, who does not want to reveal his name, is following the case now as her guardian. According to her uncle, after Muhammed Nasser, the girl's father, lost his job as a garbage truck driver in Hajjah, he became a beggar, and soon after suffered from mental problems.

Thamer is in jail now. “Yes I was intimate with her, but I have done nothing wrong, as she is my wife and I have the right and no one can stop me," he said. "But if t
The husband YT Photo by Hamed Thabet

he judge or other people insist that I divorce her, I will do it, it’s ok.”

So far, no accusations have been made against her father, who was later released due to health problems, or Nasser's husband, who will remain in jail for further investigation.

“So far there is no case and no charges, as Nojoud arrived by herself to court asking just for a divorce,“ said Shatha Ali Nasser, a lawyer in the Supreme Court who is following Nojoud Nasser’s story.

Shatha Ali Nasser confirmed that item number 15 in Yemeni civil law reads that “no girl or boy can get married before the age of 15." However, this item was amended in 1998 so parents could make a contract of marriage between their children even if they are under the age of 15. But the husband cannot be intimate with her until she is ready or mature,” said Nasser.“This law is highly dangerous because it brings an end to a young girl’s happiness and future fruitful life. Nojoud did not get married, but she was raped by a 30-year old man.”

Nasser confirmed that Nojoud Nasser’s case is not the first of its kind in Yemen, but it is the first time that a girl went to court by herself to ask for a divorce.

“We are not planning to return Nojoud to her family. Who knows? Maybe after a few years the same thing will happen to her again," said Shatha Ali Nasser. "We are planning to put her in Dar Al-Rahama [an non-governmental organization that works with children], where she can have a better life and education. We do not want her family to pay her expenses, as they are poor.”
