Although rarely
heard of today, the tradition of "lilt el haad" (saturday
night) was rigorously observed by the generations of our grand
parents and even our parents.
No object
whatsoever could be taken out of the house on saturday night.
Anything that was food, clothing, all possessions were considered
blessed during the Shabbat and were to remain inside the house
in fear that the blessing of the Shabbat would vanish. Therefore
anyone invited during the Shabbat would not be allowed to leave
until sunday morning.

DAFINA
|
Traditional
meal of Shabbat, this delicacy made of wheat, dried peas
and meat was slowly cooked overnight in a low-temp oven.
The word comes from arabic "dafina or adafina" meaning "covered,
smothered". |
